Jakob Rodriguez

Hi, my name is Jakob Rodriguez and I’ll be studying in Japan during the School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s faculty-led experience.

I’m currently a senior at Texas State studying journalism and serve as the Editor-in-Chief of Texas State’s student-run, independent newspaper, The University Star.

Post-graduation, I hope to either attend law school or continue working in media professionally, perhaps both. My biggest personal accomplishment to date is taking up golf as a hobby. I hope to make a Professional Golfers’ Association amateur tour by the time I turn 30; I’m 21 now, so let’s see what happens.

I cannot wait to fully immerse myself in Tokyo and Kyoto and the Japanese culture-at-large. I’m especially looking forward to sharing my stories abroad with my friends back home in the Rio Grande Valley!
