On June 12, our group took a day trip to Kamakura, the former capital of Japan, where we visited Hasedera temple and Daibutsu (the Great Buddha). See some of my highlights from the day below.
Hasedera temple in Kamakura is seen here. 
This pond with koi fish was a part of a large garden at Hasedera temple. 
Small statues were found scattered across the entire temple. 
At the top of Hasedera’s hydrangea path was a spectacular view of the ocean. 
The hydrangea path was long and winding. 
Hydrangeas were in full bloom during our visit, and many were visiting just to see them. 
Another beautiful view of the ocean could be seen from this spot on the hydrangea path. 
Also in Kamakura was Daibutsu, the largest statue of Buddha in Japan.
