Hello everyone! My name is Catherine Chan, but please call me Cat. My major is human development and family science. My major doesn’t have anything to do with this program, but it was an opportunity I’ve been looking forward to, and I am willing to learn new experiences and get out of my comfort zone. For most of my life, I was raised in New Jersey, but I have now lived in San Antonio for about two years.
Life can be a struggle, and I’ve had pretty tough times dealing with trauma, having an identity crisis and learning to love myself. I’ve been down the deep, dark rabbit hole that sends you to sad times. I know what it’s like to struggle through life. I understand feelings to a deeper level and wish to use my knowledge to help young people who were like me. I want to be that person that I needed when I was young and struggling.
Ever since I became a huge fan of Nintendo, anime and video games, I’ve always dreamed of going to Japan. When getting into anime, I found their culture fascinating and wished one day that I could experience it. I am looking forward to exploring a new world with a bunch of my classmates who are just as passionate about traveling to Japan as I am. I can’t wait to experience the taste of Japanese culture!
