Hey everyone! My name is Vince Teran, and I will be attending SJMC’s study abroad in Japan in just a few days. I’m starting my senior year at Texas State, and I have never been more excited to earn credits from a class than I am for the two classes I will be taking in Japan. Since I am a digital media innovation major, the classes I’ll be taking will revolve around mobile storytelling and feature writing.
This will be my first time out of the United States, so I’m super excited to be a part of this trip. One thing that I feel a little nervous about is the 13-hour-long flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo. I’ve never flown on a flight for that long, so I’m interested to see how it goes. One thing that I am super excited about getting to do once in Japan is hiking Mount Fuji. I grew up hiking and camping with friends and family through Boy Scouts, so it’ll be nice to say that I got the opportunity to hike Fuji during my two-week stay in Japan. Another thing that I’m really looking forward to is the sushi! I never used to like it, but slowly through college, my taste grew. I can’t wait to try out all the fresh sushi that Japan has to offer.
