Hi, everyone! My name is Isabela Escalona. I am a public relations major, and I am from San Antonio, Texas. I am a transfer student, so I just completed my first year at Texas State. Transferring to Texas State has given me more opportunities – both personally and academically – and I am excited to be participating in the SJMC Japan program. My career goal is to work in social media or the entertainment industry. This trip will be a great opportunity to enhance my storytelling skills.
I have always been interested in Japanese culture, especially because it’s so ingrained in American media. I am excited to learn about Japan’s history, visit the shrines and temples and try local foods. I have been wanting to study abroad since freshman year, so I am ecstatic that my dream is coming true.
