Hi, there and konnichiwa! My name is Ainsley Burnett. I’m currently an advertising major with a fashion merchandising minor at Texas State University. I’m originally from Dripping Springs, Texas. I recently finished my freshman year, which was my first year ever being away on my own, which is why I feel like this experience of exploring the other side of the world will open a new opportunity for me to challenge myself to grow professionally and personally. I always knew in high school that studying abroad was something I wanted to do when I was older, and now that I’m finally in college, I can cross it off my list!
Although I’ve been to a few European countries such as Spain, France and the United Kingdom, this will be my first time setting foot in an eastern country, and I am so excited for that country to be Japan. I am looking forward to immersing myself in Japanese culture, shopping and visiting the Studio Ghibli Museum. As much as I can’t wait to venture through the streets of Tokyo for some cool photos, a crucial objective on this trip for me will be to absorb Japan’s advertising industry and see how their strategies are different from ours.
I cannot express the level of excitement I feel just thinking about this trip! I am especially looking forward to not only extracting as much experience from this trip as possible but also meeting a ton of new friends who will become lasting connections.
