Hello! My name is Maya Hicks, and I am a senior at Texas State University! I’ll be graduating in December 2023 with a degree in journalism and a minor in political science. I love to write short stories and poetry, take photographs, and listen to Afrofunk music.
I’m extremely excited to experience the culture of Japan. I have been very fortunate to travel internationally a couple of times during my life, and I have a feeling Japan isn’t going to be like any other place that I’ve ever been. I’m excited to meet new people, eat delicious food, see some beautiful sights, and hopefully build a bond with some of my classmates on this trip!

- Paris (this was just a layover but I saw the Eiffel Tower from the plane so I count it!)
I have a passion for experiencing and understanding different cultures, and I’m beyond excited to add Japan to my list!
